The artist
I am a visual artist based in Pakistan, working primarily in abstract painting. My work explores emotion, human experience, and layered realities through texture and color. I have been teaching drawing and fine arts at university level since 2010, alongside my studio practice.
How Shafique works
My practice is rooted in an intuitive process of line, surface, and repetition. Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, I allow each painting to develop gradually, responding to the material until the composition feels resolved. Depending on scale and complexity, a work may take anywhere from several days to a few weeks to complete. For bespoke commissions, I work closely with collectors to understand the character of a space while creating a piece that remains authentic to my practice.
