How Mustabshirah Shah works
I usually start by having a quick chat to understand what you want from the piece—the mood, colors, and where it will be displayed. For portraits I ask for clear reference photos, and for landscapes I can work from your own images or build something from reference and imagination. Once we agree on the direction, I send a rough sketch or mockup for your approval before moving to the final work, and I’ll share progress updates along the way so you can see it develop. I work mainly in oil paint, graphite, and mixed media. With oil I use artist-grade paints on primed canvas or wood panels to get depth and richness that lasts. For graphite I use smooth archival paper to capture detail, especially for portraits. In mixed media I often combine graphite, charcoal, acrylic, and ink to add texture and contrast. All materials are archival and sealed for longevity. Timing depends on size and detail. Small sketches in graphite usually take 3 to 5 days, while medium oil portraits and landscapes take about 1 to 2 weeks. Larger, more detailed pieces run 3 to 4 weeks because I factor in drying time and 1 to 2 rounds of small adjustments. If you have a deadline, let me know and I’ll see what we can do. For bespoke briefs, I love working from your ideas. You can send me your concept, reference images, preferred size, and a rough budget range. I’ll come back with a couple of concepts and a quote, and once you choose one I handle the rest. My goal is to make the final piece feel personal and fit your space 1/1
